If you like ginger, you’ll love this pear!
Servings: 1
1 pear
1 tablespoon apple juice, frozen concentrate
1 teaspoon candied ginger root, minced
1) Put apple juice and ginger in a small microwave-safe dish.
2) Carve 3 strips from around the skin of the pear (be creative in design!)
Cut off the bottom of the pear so it will stand upright, produce juice and
absorb flavor.
3) Place pear on dish, spoon juice over pear and cover with plastic wrap.
4) Microwave on high for 5 minutes – TEST AND ADD TIME IN 30 SECOND
INCREMENTS.
5) Remove pears to serving dishes.
6) Place dish with juice and ginger in microwave and cook uncovered for 2
minutes to make a syrup/glaze.
7) Spoon glaze over pear(s), chill and serve.
NOTE: If you don’t have a thick syrup after 2 minutes, cook in ˝ minute
increments to obtain your glaze. If you’re not fond of ginger, use the same
procedure with different juices. Some people like pears with a light wine
added to the juice. This is one of our favorite desserts.
Tastes fine as is, or garnish your plate with raspberry sauce!
